Students in Service is a Washington Campus Compact (WACC) AmeriCorps-affiliated Education Award program that supports and promotes the engagement of higher education students in their communities by offering Education Awards to those who participate in community service, service-learning, or civic engagement activities. The Students in Service program strives to develop a regional network of student leaders committed to serving and strengthening local communities in partnership with pre-school through college educators and community-based organizations. For more information please visit the website at
www.studentsinservice.org.

Enrolled members can serve in positions that fit within any of the five focus areas identified by AmeriCorps: education, the environment, human needs, public safety, and homeland security. Appropriate service activities would include but are not limited to: tutoring or mentoring in schools or preschool programs, participating in service-learning courses or certain internship/practicum programs, working with environmental projects or at community service agencies, serving as a service-learning coordinator on their campus, or a variety of other ways that are of personal and/or scholastic interest. Higher education students who are volunteering, have a State or Federally funded, service-related Work Study position, or have a non-paid, service-related academic internship or independent study should apply!
