Other Service Opportunities

AmeriCorps member engaging in service activity

AmeriCorps*VISTA

Maybe you're looking to help others who haven't had the same opportunities as you by giving them the tools they need to help themselves. Maybe you've climbed that ladder and now you want to help the next person up.

Helping others help themselves is at the heart of Americorps*VISTA.

AmeriCorps*VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) gives people like you a chance to work as organizers, builders and catalysts for change. As an AmeriCorps*VISTA member, you might create an after-school program for children, coordinate job training to help people get off welfare, or fight to keep a health clinic from closing its doors. Whatever your assignment, you will make a real difference for a community that needs you.

You know you can make a difference.
You'd like to leave your mark on the world.

For more information on how to "follow your heart and make the difference", call (208) 334-1707 or e-mail vgriffit@cns.gov.

Senior Corps

The National Senior Service Corps is a network of more than a half million seniors who are making a difference through Foster Grandparents, Senior Companions and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). These programs tap the experience, skills, talents, interests and creativity of seniors age 55 and over who are willing to help improve their communities through volunteer service.

For more information on getting involved in these programs, call (208) 334-1707 or e-mail vgriffit@cns.gov.

Learn & Serve America

About Learn & Serve: Service-Learning

  • Is coordinated with an elementary school, secondary school, institution of higher education, or community service program and the community
  • Helps foster civic responsibility
  • Is integrated into and enhances the academic curriculum of the students, or the education components of the community service program in which the particpants are enrolled
  • Provide structured time for students or participants to reflect on the service experience

For more information on getting involved with Learn & Serve America, call (208) 332-6904 or e-mail TMNaillon@sde.idaho.gov

AmeriCorps*NCCC

AmeriCorps*NCCC, the National Civilian Community Corps, is a 10-month residential national service program for young women and men of all social, economic and educational backgrounds. The program takes its inspiration from the Depresssion-era Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), which put thousands of young people to work restoring our national environment. AmeriCorps*NCCC retains the CCC's focus on the environment, but recognizes that as the challenges our nation faces become more diverse, so must the solutions.
