Taking a Look at Various Personal Injury Cases In The United States

From irresponsible dog owners to car accidents, personal injury cases are all too common here in the United States. However, personal injury lawyers do their best to ensure that the victims of such cases are able to get the settlement money that they so deserve, money that can help to make their lives in the aftermath of such an accident more bearable than before, as this money can help to cover medical costs and other costs that have been accrued as a result of the pain and suffering of said victims. Personal injury cases are even frequently able to be settled before going to trial as well, with only four percent to five percent of all personal injury cases making it before a judge or a jury here in the United States. And there are many different kinds of personal injury cases as well, which will all be handled just a little bit differently, cementing the important role that is played by the typical personal injury lawyer or personal injury attorney.

Thanks to irresponsible dog owners, dog bite cases often become personal injury cases. And because of these irresponsible owners, dog bite cases are far more common than the average person might realize, with four and half million occurring each and every year in this one country alone. Part of this is simply due to the fact that there are so many dogs owned here in the United States, with up to seventy million of them kept as pets throughout the households of the country. Typically, dogs that are well trained, given affection and attention, and exercised regularly are far from aggressive. In fact, many dogs are beloved members of the family and are gentle and kind even to the very youngest members of the family. Many parents will even trust their well socialized and well behaved dogs around their very young babies – under supervision, of course. But irresponsible dog owners most definitely exist and it is thanks to these irresponsible dog owners that so many people end up getting bitten by said dogs. Irresponsible dog owners are often not paying very much attention to their dogs at all, especially in delicate social situations in which the dog might become scared and even aggressive. Irresponsible dog owners are also not likely to care for their dogs in a way that would promote healthy and safe social behavior from the dog, and so the irresponsible dog owners do nothing to prevent the dog bite from occurring. And while dog bites can be minor, it’s true, many dog bites are much more serious and will require intensive medical care before being considered truly healed. Such dog bites can even be disfiguring and life altering, if they occur on a location of the body such as the face. Unfortunately, children are by and large the most common victims of dog bites, followed only by senior citizens. For irresponsible dog owners, this can mean becoming the defendant of a personal injury law suit in which settlement money is likely to be owed.

Aside from irresponsible dog owners, irresponsible drivers are likewise incredibly dangerous. In fact, car and other such motor vehicle accidents cause more personal injury cases than anything else, primarily through distracted driving, speeding, and driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. There are six million car accidents each and every year, and these car accidents are expected to result in up to three million injuries – and more than thirty million deaths.

Drunk driving is a common cause of such car accidents, with someone in the United States becoming injured in a crash related to drunk driving every time two minutes passes. Unfortunately, many people also lose their lives as a direct result of a drunk driver on the road. And drunk driving is widespread throughout the country, with more than three hundred thousand people getting behind the wheel while they are intoxicated each and every day. Of these thousands upon thousands of people, it is unfortunately estimated that only around four thousand or so will actually be arrested by the time that the day has drawn to a close.
